According to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, the Mariners are discussing a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates involving their starting shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt.

The Mariners would get SS Jack Wilson in the deal.

Yeah, I like it, but how about you?

You might say this is a terrible deal for the Mariners because Wilson is 31 and owed $6.2 mil, comparing to Betancourt, who is 27, and owed much less in a same period.

But here's the thing: Is Betancourt worth keeping?

Betancourt has .258 batting average, with .284 on base percentage. He only took five walks thus far in 128 at-bats. Not only his hitting is in trouble, but his defence is lacking . He already has six errors in 35...
