Carney Lansford to the HOF? Maybe Not, but One Heck of a Player

Carney Lansford has been my hero for about 30 years. I watched him mature as a rookie with the California Angels. He blossomed into one of the best third baseman in all of baseball during his illustrious career.

If I'm not mistaken, he is still the only third baseman to lead the league in fielding percentage in three different decades.

He also won the American League Batting Title while he was with the Boston Red Sox.  In 1989, he helped lead the A's to the World Championship against the team for which he now is the batting coach, the SF Giants.

The previous year, they were defeated by the LA Dodgers, and the year following their World Championship, they were defeated by the Cincinnati Reds...
