Hot Mets Win Sixth Straight

By a score of 10-1, the New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates today to win their sixth straight game, baseball's longest active winning streak. The Mets have now won seven of their last eight games, outscoring opponents 48-25 and averaging a victory of 3.2 runs in that span.

Coming into May, the Mets were fourth in their division, 4.5 games out of Florida's lead. The Phillies hosted New York for a three game series, in which both teams won a game (the Phillies' 6-5 win being the only Mets' loss since April 29th), and the third game was postponed.
