John Maine pitched a stellar game yesterday. And you didn't even realize it because of Omir Santos.

Starting for the third straight game, Santos batted eighth and hit a first-inning grand slam to put the Mets in the lead 6-1. For the year, he's batting .286 in seven games including five starts.

Santos originally signed with the Yankees and had steadily made his way up the minor league ladder.

After seven years, he made it to the Orioles' major league roster in September. He appeared in 10 games with Baltimore but did not make much of an impact at the plate, with one hit in 10 AB.
