Jake Fox: A Forgotten Man?

By picking him in the third round of the 2003 draft, the Cubs seemed to have high hopes for University of Michigan product, Jake Fox.

Yet here we are six years later, and he has played in a grand total of seven games and tallied 14 at-bats for the big league club. So what went wrong?

Originally drafted as a catcher, the Cubs left him at his natural position until 2007, when he got his first taste of Triple-A baseball. It was then  he also got his first taste of being teammates with Geovanny Soto, a clearly superior catcher and a man that was obviously ahead of Fox on the depth chart.

So Fox began the conversion to first basemen/outfielder, and continued to hit the entire way.
