Faith is a fragile thing.

Albert Pujols is the real deal. He’s also too good to be true. Ten years ago, Pujols would have been embraced by an adoring and ingenuous public—which says less about the Cardinals first baseman than it does about the folks who’ve declined to do the embracing.

Naiveté means failing to ask the hard questions.

Nihilism, on the other hand, means refusing to hear the hard answers.
