Lance Berkman and Miguel Tejada’s Milestones Lift Houston Astros to Victory

Miguel Tejada and Lance Berkman achieved milestones as the Houston Astros defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4.

Tejada got his 2,000th hit with an RBI single to left off Arizona pitcher Jon Garland. The Astros’ shortstop became the 18th Dominican to achieve that milestone.

Berkman followed with his 300th home run to right field, driving in Tejada. Berkman became the 22nd person to reach 300 home runs and is tied with teammate Ivan Rodriguez for 120th all-time in home runs.

The game also featured a starting pitching matchup from Game 3 of the 2005 World Series. Roy Oswalt started for the Astros against Garland, who pitched for the White Sox in 2005.
