Mariners-Twins: Griffey’s Target Practice Propels Mariners

If there are any guarantees in life, one would be that Ken Griffey Jr. will do something special on mother's day. Yesterday Griffey smashed a two-run home run in the eighth inning to help the Mariners comeback and defeat the Minnesota Twins in the weekend finale.

The blast by Junior was his seventh career mothers day homer, his second career dinger with the annually popular pink bat. The ball went through a $25,000 Subway promotion target hanging over the second deck of the Metrodome, Junior either won the money or provided a nice check for one lucky fan.
