New York Mets: To Acquire or Build from within?

The Mets will be without Carlos Delgado for approximately 10 weeks after he underwent hip surgery yesterday in New York.

While his teammates will miss his presence on the field and in the clubhouse, the Mets players know that they have to pick up the slack and move forward in the hopes that he will return for a successful August and September.

Jeremy Reed and Fernando Tatis have both done fairly admirable jobs replacing Delgado at first base, but the Mets need to be aware of who is available from outside the organization to fill the roster spot in the long term.
