Phillies- Reds: Cincinnati Comes Up Short in Series Opener, Lose 4-3

Coming home to Great American Ball Park after getting swept in San Diego, the Reds needed a win. 

They had arguably their best pitcher this season, Johnny Cueto, on the mound.  Cueto pitched seven innings and blanked the Philadelphia Phillies in all but two of those.  He gave up a solo home run to Ryan Howard in the second.  Cueto ran into trouble again in the fifth inning, allowing three runs on four hits.

Cole Hamels cruised threw the first three innings before giving up a solo home run to Jay Bruce in the fourth.  It was the first dinger of the year against a left-hander for Bruce.  Hamels reminds me of Tom Glavine with his smooth delivery.  He is not overpowering, but gets ...
