Red Sox-Twins: Bad Inning Derails Lester Again

I pointed it out last week as an alarming trend in Jon Lester’s starts this season for the Boston Red Sox, but I wasn’t totally convinced it was something he needed to fix—and Lester rewarded my optimism with a good start against the Blue Jays. But Tuesday night was back to the same bad habit for Lester, as the Twins derailed the Red Sox lefty in a single inning with much of the damage done on one bad pitch. Justin Morneau capped a five-run fifth inning with his 14th home run of the season as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Red Sox 5-2 Tuesday night to split the first two games of their four-game series at the Metrodome.
