Round Goes to the Red Sox

Tim Wakefield and the Boston Red Sox proved they are not going to just roll over for the new kids on the block, the Toronto Blue Jays. The Boston Red Sox took game one of the three game series 2-1.

The Blue Jays entered the game with a three and half game lead on the Red Sox and were hoping to extend it in Boston tonight.

Wakefield pitched a steady game giving the Blue Jays fits at the plate. He kept the Jays to a total of five hits; only Kevin Millar's home run over the green monster in the fifth inning blemished a stellar outing.

Brian Tallet also had a good game allowing two runs over six innings while only allowing four hits. B.J. Ryan came on to keep the game close.
