Washington Nationals Scouting New York Mets’ Minor League System

According to Gordon Edes of Yahoo! Sports the Washington Nationals are scouting the Triple-A team in Buffalo, NY, and the Double-A team in Binghamton, NY.

This suggests that the Mets still have interest in acquiring first baseman Nick Johnson, considering the injury to slugger Carlos Delgado. The Nationals are evaluating pitchers Jon Niese, Eddie Kunz, and Mike Antonini. They are also still enamored with Bobby Parnell who is on the 25-man roster and coming out of the bullpen.

Now, I have to ask, why would the Mets acquire Nick Johnson? Yes, he is a very solid defender at firsst base and his lefty bat would definitely be a welcome addition, but what would they do with Johnson once Delgado returns? Who’s big-mone...
