New York Knicks To Sign Gortat?

The Knicks are looking to add a center with their $5 million mid-level exception. The team has been last in blocks the past two seasons.

Donnie Walsh is very high on Orlando Magic big man Marcin Gortat. The Knicks director of pro scouting is Peter Gabriel, who does a lot of scouting at Magic games. The Polish-born center backs up Dwight Howard, which means he has a limited role with the team. Magic GM Otis Smith can match any offer, but for financial reasons may not want to re-sign him to pay the luxury tax.
