Why are NBA Referees So Bad?

People will say, "Aw, lay off them, they're human," and all that jazz. The way I see it, that's their job. It is your job to make calls, and make the right ones at that.
I've watched well over 100 NBA games this year, and I can't think of one in which I didn't more than once see a ridiculous call, or a non call.
Admittedly, I'm a Lakers fan, so maybe I'm a little biased, and I'm sure Nuggets fans saw some blatant things that were miscalled as well. But so far, in two games, the refs have made two unbelievable calls or miscalls at the end of the game.
