2009 Jets Will Count Heavily on Defense and Follow Ravens’ Model

At his introductory press conference, new head coach Rex Ryan implied that a Super Bowl was in the future for his New York Jets.

He may very well prove prophetic, but it won’t happen in 2009. 

What Jets' fans will see in 2009 will be a team in transition. They will be transitioning to a new coaching regime, a new quarterback and a new culture.

Gone are Eric Mangini, Brett Favre and their divisive locker room presences. In place are Ryan and a more cohesive team personality.

Cohesion only goes so far without wins. Victories will come for the Jets, but it may not be enough to make the playoffs.
