Carolina Panthers Make the Right Choice: Re-Sign Delhomme to Contract Extension

Today I am a very happy Panthers fan. Finally, the Carolina Panthers have come to an agreement with quarterback Jake Delhomme on a five-year, $42.5 million contract, potentially keeping Delhomme in Carolina through 2014.

In a draft where the Panthers have no first-round pick, and have basically had a very stale free agency period, keeping Delhomme was the best possible choice.

The rumors of making a trade with Denver to acquire disgruntled quarterback Jay Cutler fell through, and with that the Panthers are still holding onto a potential ace with Julius Peppers on draft day.

Aside from the lack of offseason commotion, the Panthers are in good shape to make another run at the playoffs and Super Bowl in 2009...
