What do you do, when the player you want is being coveted by another team? You assess the cost.

When the Raiders heard that Michael Mitchell, a player they wanted in a later round, was going to be picked in the second by the Bears, they double-checked to make sure their second-round pick was ahead of Chicago.

Then you have the discussion: Would he start? Could he start?

One scout compared Mitchell to Chris Horton, the Redskins safety who was drafted in Round 7 last year. So Al Davis writes "Michael Mitchell" on the draft card and waits for his turn to pick.

Was this the right move? Only time will tell.
