200 Coyote Fans Rally In Phoenix, No BlackBerries Broken

Toronto radio station The FAN 590 predicted the "Save The Coyotes" rally in Phoenix would inspire 50 or so protesters while the organizers' website claimed they would attract 500. The Phoenix New Times estimated the actual crowd size at 200 persons.

Most of the media covering the event were from Canada. The Fan AM 1060 broadcast live from a suburban restaurant called the Native New Yorker, near where the rally was held.

A few local businesses showed their support for the fans. The restaurant opened early, a local printer donated posters, and another company passed out free water, as it was over 100 degrees in Arizona.

The New Times reported there were chants of "Let's go Coy-otes!" and "Stay away Canada!"
