You may recall that these longtime “Original Six” rivals also faced each other in the first round of last season’s playoffs.
The roles were reversed in that series, as the Canadiens had been much stronger during the regular season. Additionally, Montreal had beaten Boston 11 straight times, entering that series.
Yet, the Bruins took the Canadiens all the way to seven games.
While Boston had the much better regular-season record this year, I won’t be surprised if this proves to be another close series.
