The Pittsburgh Penguins spanked the Flyers 4-1 in the opening game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight.
It wasn't even that close.
The Flyers didn't just get beat on the scoreboard. Oh no, they got beat in every aspect of the game.
Speed.
Toughness
Face-offs.
Goaltending.
Coaching.
Effort.
Momentum.
There was one brief flurry toward the end of the second period where the Flyers seemed to think they might want to... I don't know, play? But that proved to be no more than an aberration, as the intermission killed whatever groundswell that might have been percolating.
