Defeating the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings at home on Tuesday to take a 2-1 series lead didn’t seem that important to Anaheim players, as their thoughts were focused on Wisniewski, who was taken off the ice on a stretcher in front of a stunned crowd in the second period.
This 25-year old, who was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks at the NHL trade deadline, suffered an injury very similar to fellow defenceman Chris Pronger a few years ago when he was playing with the St. Louis Blues.
