New York Rangers: Markus Naslund to Retire?

The New York Rangers remained mum today on reports in various media outlets that winger Markus Naslund has informed the team he intends to retire. 

Steve Zipay, of the New York Newsday, reports that the team could be waiting for Naslund to formally announce his intentions or that a final decision hasn't been made.

The New York Post further reports that had Naslund not decided to retire the Rangers would've explored buying out the final year of his contract. Naslund was believed to not be in Rangers coach John Tortarella's plans for next season.
