Tortorella Suspended for Game Six

Sean Avery was scratched for game five after his excess penalties in games three and four of the series with the Washington Capitals, and the suspensions do not end there for the New York Rangers.

Rangers coach John Tortorella will sit out game six of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals after being suspended by the NHL for his altercation with a Capitals fan during their 4-0 defeat Friday at Verizon Center.

Tortorella was shown on video throwing a green water bottle in the crowd and the league said a punishment needs to be given to the coach. Tortorella was doused by a drink from the stands, but video evidence shows the coach squirted a fan first to begin the altercation.
